Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), is a bustling cosmopolitan Asian city and the French influence is still apparent here, too, from the broad tree-lined boulevards to the imposing villas and colonial architecture.

The city's major sights include the elegant History Museum, where you'll be treated to an enchanting performance of traditional Water Puppetry, Notre Dame Cathedral and City Hall. Explore the old Presidential Palace with its remarkable network of underground bunkers, and venture through the bustling indoor Benh Thanh market and Cholon (China Town). Visit the Great Temple of the Cao Dai religion, a unique fusion of Western and Eastern philosophies and religions. Tour the Cu Chi Tunnels, an ingenious underground network built during the war. The tunnels, more than 200 kilometres long contained storage rooms, kitchens, hospitals, sleeping quarters and even schools.
